FAQ

Here are some common questions I get asked about hypnosis and hypnotherapy at my practice in Norwich.

What is Hypnosis and how does it work?

There is a mind below our conscious, logical mind that stores all our memories, beliefs and patterns of behaviour called the subconscious mind. Every decision we make today is based on the experiences held within the subconscious mind. If the beliefs gained from some of these experiences are negative they will impact on the decisions we are making now. When we day dream our conscious, critical mind switches off and the door to the subconscious mind opens. Hypnotherapists use this open door to change negative beliefs and harmful patterns of behaviour with out  critical interference.

Does Hypnotherapy work?

Yes, because it deals directly with the part of the mind that has created and is maintaining your issues unlike talk therapies such as Psychotherapy, Counselling and CBT.

How are you different to all the other Hypnotherapists in Norwich?

I hypnotize people, not send them to sleep with endless scripts. My methods including analytical hypnotherapy, symbolic hypnotism, Parts Therapy, Regression and NLP are fast, effective and direct. I do not  put you through endless weeks of counselling, I want you back on the road again in as soon as possible.

How many sessions of Hypnosis and NLP will I need to have?

That depends on what you have come to see me for. Some issues can be fixed very quickly but it really depends on the depth of the problem. Sometimes clients come for one thing and then decide that they would like to clear up other things that trouble them. For longer term issues I like to see people for 4 sessions so the new behaviors can be installed and compounded.

Can anyone be hypnotized?

Anyone who wants to be and can follow instructions can be hypnotised.

What does hypnosis feel like?

Firstly hypnosis is not sleep or relaxation? Hypnosis is a very pleasant experience and relaxation is a benefit of the process. In hypnosis your mind becomes very focused and all of your senses are heightened. It’s like experiencing an incredibly real dream. Once people have been hypnotised they normally can’t wait for the next session.

Can a hypnotist make me do things that I don’t want to do?

If a hypnotist asks you to do something that you think is morally wrong no, you will reject the suggestion and more than likely come straight out of hypnosis. Even in hypnosis your mind will protect you.

Can hypnosis cause me any harm?

A hypnotherapists intention is to take away fears, phobias, anxieties etc and to give people confidence, direction and happiness.

Can hypnosis cure cancer?

A positive frame of mind and a knowledge of relaxation techniques aids recovery from major illnesess without a doubt.

Is hypnosis and NLP guaranteed to work?

From all the therapies offering this type of help hypnotherapy has a very high success rate. I will give you guidance and techniques to back up the work we do together but it will be up to you follow them through.
